Eldara’s robe of bones*
No one wants this! It is an Evil item, plus it is used (i.e. not fully charged). You would need to find someone to fence it (Rafad’s contact Rick, for example), but the magic shop owners do not suggest this. They suggest you destroy it, or donate it to the University for study. This Robe of Bones, while not fully charged, could still be used to create one goblin skeleton, one human commoner skeleton, two wolf skeletons, one goblin zombie, one human zombie and one wolf zombie. It could be sold to a fence for 420 gp

* Planning to sell
The group will email Andy a list of things they’re selling. He’ll figure out how much it’s worth, and let us know.
We’re back at the party at House Lyrander.
– A wizard, Rand Roole, comes up to Coriell, and tells him that he thought that his clan, Sunburst, disappeared 2000 years ago. He brings up Coriell’s sister’s name, she had left home to go to Xendrik. Coriell tells him that he’s a descendant of the Sunburst line. Coriell explains ASYLM, and that he remembers the time of horrors. Professor Roole wants to meet with him later. He tells Coriell more about the Blood of Vol. They discuss the curse of the Blood of Vol without Coriell mentioning that he’s been cursed.
– Daenerys is approached by Habra Tergaren. Daenerys has the same last name. She asks why he chose that last name. He tells her that he has a dragon mark. She asks if he claims to be a member of the House Tergaren. Daenerys puts her off, and says that he’s from the hills, and is a distant cousin, come to visit. She tells him that there are names that are more noble and with more power right now, and she doesn’t understand why he would choose it. She goes away unhappy.
– Aerdane is there, and happy to see us. He asks Daenerys to dance and she turns him down. He offers to give us a ride home in his sky coach. The lift is for commoners. He tells Daenerys that just because she has the dragonmark of house Orion, she doesn’t have to join that house. There’s a feud between houses Lyrander and Orion. Aerdane gives us all a ride home, except Daenerys, who chooses to walk.
– We go back to the gatehouse to get our weapons. As Daenerys is leaving she sees someone is an obvious bunchy cloak following the rest of the group. We also notice that we’re being followed, and have been since we left the party. We don’t notice Daenerys in the shadows. We step into the skycoach – it looks like a gondolier. It’s easy for wizards to create flying things because Sharn sits in a manifest zone of the elemental plane of air. The skycoach only works in Sharn. We pull into the flow of traffic, and we notice that the person shadowing us gets a one-person crystalline disk, a soar sled, and begins to follow us. Daenerys gets a lift, and begins following us, and our shadow. We tell Aerdane that we’re being followed. He’s surprised, and just as he reacts, a sky coach smashes into us with six passengers aboard. Four of the passengers are armed with shields and flails, and are wearing the same insignia. Dressed in green. Two passengers leap on board and rush Coriell. The fight is on! As we fight, Aerdane says “Emerald claw scum die!” We defeat two monks and four soldiers of the Emerald Claw. They are a military group tangentially tied to the Blood of Vol. Once the Blood of Vol was no longer the official religion of Karnath, the Emerald claw were outlawed. However, they did not disband. Aerdane took us back to the inn, The Ten Bells, in the neighborhood of the Dancing Shadows. The skiff the Emerald claw were on was probably stolen. We now how a skiff.
– As we approach the Dancing Shadows, we see a fire burning. The Ten Bells is burning. Coriell’s dog and our armor and weapons are in the inn. We run towards The Ten Bells . The fire is under control, but the innkeeper has been beaten. There’s a man there waiting to talk to us – Johann Ironfoundersson. He’s the captain of the guard that we met in the refugee camp. The captain talks to us – some men came looking for us. They ransacked our room. Kyle comes running up with Ellendil – Kyle grabbed all our things and ran out the back door with Ellendil.
– Rafad goes to talk to our shadow. Rafad gets closer to our shadow, and he’s wearing a robe and a pointy hat. Coriell recognizes him – he was the assistant to one of the wizards that was examining Coriell and the curse of the Blood of Vol. The assistant’s name is Laren. Rafad brings him to the captain. Laren breaks down – he’s been told to follow Coriell as part of his graduate studies. He’s from Moregrave university. He’s supposed to follow Coriell and take notes on his demise.
– We go to Clifftop – an adventurer’s quarter. There’s a rivalry between Clifftop and Death’s Gate – two different adventurer’s guilds. The Captain tells us we can find him in Black Arch at the guard house. We find an inn called Eleven Bells, where they rent us rooms for 60GP for the night. There were three featherfall tokens on the monks. We looted their bodies. The neighborhood of Clifftop is in Upper Dura. Dura in general is the worst of the five quarters, but Upper Dura is the best part of Dura.
– The next morning we wake up and come down the common room, and see Victor Saint Demain and Captain Pardesh. There’s a fascinating new profession in this city called “the Inquisitor”, who finds things out. Victor says “I will bet you two hundred gold pieces that I find the shrine to the Blood of Vol in Sharn before you do”. Coriell takes the bet.
– Before we go to Lower Dura, we need to talk to the Captain, and go shopping. There are shops in the adventurer’s quarters. Mithril Blade sells weapons. I buy a potion of cure serious wounds.
– We spend a couple of days shopping. We keep being approached by wizards from the university, and scribes. The people of ASYLM are of interest, due to the refugees’ stories of fighting dragons and so on.
– Daenerys goes to talk to the House Orion. They’re happy to see him, and his dragon mark. They start him on the process to get him as part of the House. It will take a couple of weeks.
– A copy of the Sharn Inquisitive comes out. In the newspaper, there is a number of articles about us. Veer wrote the articles. The main gist is that we are braggarts of dubious origins, who claim to have fought dragons, and come from a mythical city that’s thousands of years old. One of the politicians is denouncing everyone from Asylm, and is saying that we are Cyrians posing as Asylm refugees. Anyone who says they are from Asylm is a traitor or war criminal, sneaking into Asylm.
– This is our third week in Sharn.
– In five days, Sharn celebrates CrystalFall – in memory of when the crystal tower was destroyed. People create beautiful works of crystal and push them into the river.
– Coriell gets a visit from a wizard who talks to him about sponsoring some of his research into the Sunburst clan. If he had more founding, in the form of a grant, he could continue his research. Coriell wants to see his research. He has a good geneaology of the Sunburst family. After Coriell’s sister went to Xendrik, there’s little information. He wants to go to Xendrik.
– My parents visit – it’s the 4th of Olarune. They want to open a pub in Lower Menelith tower, near the university. The neighborhood is a little shady and bawdy, but a good opportunity. I give my parents 500 GP to open a pub called Latta’s Hearth.
– Rafad pays 500 GP to set up a den or rogues and thieves. His own little guild. Level One rogues.
– The day before CrystalFall, we’re at the Eleven Bells, and Lord Malacoda comes in, by himself. LM heard about our reception at House Lyrander. A number of people from Asylm have been getting bad names in the paper. People in Highwall are getting a bad shake. LM wants donates to the Asylm refugees fund. I give LM 250 GP.
– We go talk to Captain Ironfoundersson. The Emerald Claw thugs have been sentenced to hard labor. The Captain questioned them, but didn’t get much information. Based on their accents, they seem to have come from Karnath recently. No word on how they were working with, for, or where they were staying in the city. They’ll be doing hard time for 3d6 years.
Time Keeps on Slipping…
A few notes on time. Both the people of ASYLM and the people on the Outside keep track of the days of the week as follows:
Sul - First Day
Mol - Second Day
Zol - Third Day
Wir - Fourth Day
Zor - Fifth Day
Far - Sixth Day
Sar - Seventh Day
Both groups use the same calendar when it comes to months:
Zarantyr
Olarune
Therendor
Eyre
Dravago
Nymm
Lharvion
Barrakas
Rhaan
Sypheros
Aryth
Vult
However, once we start measure years, there seems to be a bit of a difference.
The appearance of the Mark of Warding among the dwarves of the Mror Holds marks the beginning of the dwarven calendar. Since ASYLM was originally a dwarven kingdom, it also used Mror Reckoning or MR.
ASYLM was sealed in 1057 MR. One hundred and fourteen years passed, so everyone in ASYLM thought it was 1171 MR.
Since the Escapees emerged from ASYLM, you have all discovered that the people you encounter generally use the Kingdom of Galifar’s calendar, measured in “Years since the founding of the Galifar Kingdom” or YK.
The current year in 998 YR, or 2500 MR.
A few important history lessons.
Eleven of the current twelve Dragonmarked Houses had been established before ASYLM was sealed. The Mark of Finding appeared after ASYLM was sealed, and appears in humans and half-orcs of House Tharashk.
1 MR - The five settlements which will become the Five Nations are established: Metrol, Karrnath, Wroat, Daskara and Thaliost. Mark of Warding appears among the dwarves of the Mror Holds.
1000 MR - The War of the Mark is launched to eliminate the aberrant and mixed dragonmarks, and more importantly, establish the sanctioned Dragonmarked Houses.
1057 MR - ASYLM is sealed as the Time of the Horrors approaches.
1503 MR - Galifar I and his five scions (Cyre, Karrn, Thrane, Aundair and Brey) take control of the Five Nations and establish the Kingdom of Galifar.
The Galifar calendar starts with this year being 1 YK.
32 YK (1534 MR) - The Five Nations of Galifar adopt the names of King Galifar’s children as their own.
Metrol becomes Cyre.
Karrnath remains Karrnath.
Wroat becomes Breyland.
Daskara becomes Thrane.
Thaliost becomes Aundair.
894 YK (2396 MR) - King Jarot, last ruler of the Kingdom of Galifar, dies. His children fight among themselves regarding who should succeed him, and the Last War is begun.
965 YK (2467 MR) - House Cannith (Mark of Making) creates the Warforged, living constructs designed to fight the Last War.
994 YK (2496 MR) - Cyre is destroyed; the Mournland is created.
996 YK (2598 MR) - Treaty of Thronehold officially ends the Last War.
998 YK (2500 MR) - Current year.
Wizards and scholars outside ASYLM can find mention of the “Time of the Horrors”, but only as an ancient time of troubles over a thousand years ago.

A Little More Religion
During your time in the camp and wandering the streets of Sharn, you have picked up a little information on the local religions. You do not hear mention of the Gods worshipped by people from ASYLM.
Church of the Silver Flame – the “one true faith”; embrace the Flame and have no fears.
The Sovereign Host – embraces many cultures and faiths; all gods are but a reflection of the Host.
Arawai, God of Agriculture (sister of Balinor and the Devourer; mother of the Fury)
Aureon, God of Law and Knowledge (brother of Onatar, husband of Bolderi, lost his Shadow)
Boldrei, God of Community and Hearth (wife of Aureon)
Balinor, God of Beasts and the Hunt (brother of Arawai and the Devourer)
Dol Arrah, God of Honor and Sacrifice (sister of Dol Dorn, maybe sister of the Mockery)
Dol Dorn, God of Strength at Arms (brother of Dol Arrah, maybe brother of the Mockery)
Kol Korran, God of Trade and Wealth (son of Olladra and Onatar, the Keeper’s twin brother)
Olladra, God of Feast and Good Fortune (wife of Onatar, mother of Kol Korran and the Keeper)
Onatar, God of Artiface and the Forge (husband of Olladra, father of Kol Korran and the Keeper)
The Dark Six – Enemies (and often family) of the Sovereign Host. Although many people do make offerings to the Dark Six to ward off their wrath, few worship them openly, except in evil kingdoms like the goblin nation of Darguun.
The Devourer
The Fury
The Keeper
The Mockery
The Shadow
The Traveler
The Blood of Vol – Death is the enemy; Undeath is the path to salvation!

Render Burns, City Rejoices
Yesterday morning, while riots were still raging across the city, the corpse of the nefarious villain Render finally burned atop a pyre in the central cemetery.
The heroes of the hour are Tombor Auchentoshen, Theodrus Pallanus, Rafad, Coriell Sunburst and Daenerys Targaryen.
Infamous Playwright Captured
In a daring twilight raid last night, a small team of heroes descended upon a slaughter house to capture a dangerous madman. Acting on an anonymous tip, Victor Saint Demain, Tox and Peri Umdeng burst into the slaughter house to find infamous playwright, Antonal Telthin, lurking in hiding.
Telthin surrendered without a fight, and confessed to the theft of the Render’s corpse.
Lilybrook Family Grieves
The Lilybrook family announced today the death of their youngest daughter, Eldara Lilybrook. The cause of death was not mentioned, but those close to the family suspect suicide.
Audry Lilybrook, Eldara’s mother, has been a pillar of the ASYLM community, and has strived for years to use the family’s wealth and position to help those less fortunate.

What they left behind
5/25/08 Danerys Reporting
pandemonium! Our goal: to get through the portal without getting scorched. Multiple dragons, multiple hell hounds. Everybody attacks, most baddies aim for the short one with the armor. Dragons are attacking the townspeople, ASYLM defenders and players, melting dogs with acid spit.
Tombor takes on two dragons, one of whom zaps lightning through Tombor’s armor and scorches a hole in Tombor’s hobgoblin opponent. Only to get attacked by a “not gigantic” green dragon. Danerys tries to step in with a scorching ray, but it doesn’t seem like a good idea when I see the green dragon’s steely glare. The blue dragon attacks Coriell while Rafad takes a parting shot at the black dragon, who swoops in to kidnap Dympnha. Dymphna launches her flaming sphere at the ship’s deck, which sets everyone in a mad panic for the portal. Coriell dives heroically through the portal like a girl, Tombor clicks his boots and bolts, only to stop before the portal entrance to save an unconscious ASYLM member. Danerys runs and can’t help but take some parting shots at the green dragon. Tombor acts the Schwarzenegger role fighting hellhounds while pulling unconscious dude toward the portal.
The remaining dragons tag team on Danerys forcing her to make a tough decision, get bit and run or try and kill. Running seems best. Tombor bull runs Danerys through the portal, as she curses the breed DRAGON!
We find ourselves further west than we were, by 1000 miles or so. There are a few hours of daylight left.
On the horizon, we see a plateau. On top of it, there is a castle, which appears to have a castle upon it. Upon that castle is a series of towers, with towers upon them. In the clouds, there are floating towers. Welcome to Sharn!!!
Coriell takes over reporting:
Riding towards us is a military phalanx. Theodorus and Malacoda ride out to meet them. Three hours later, it looks like Theodorus, Malacoda, and Geoffrey the Pale have been speaking with the leaders of Sharn. Wyvern riders are circling and corralling the hordes. Some of the members of the Sharn forces seem to be “constructs” of wood, metal, & adamantine.
As the night starts to set, there is a strange mood in the camp. The Haven-Farans are out for justice and want to execute Cap Galen and his cronies. Harc and Keel have set about building gallows to hang the criminals, but this is problematic. The king of Sharn may see this as a transgression of his laws, which could spell doom for the Haven-Farans, the ASYLM refugees, and the group.
Rafad attempts to talk sense into Harc and Keel, but they’re not having any of it. They want justice. They fully intend to execute Galen, consequences be damned.
Rafad and Coriell go forth and speak to the members of the guard. Johann Ironfounderson, a captain in the Sharn Guard, informs Rafad that if Galen and the criminals are turned over to Sharn, they will have their fates decided by the magistrates, and the punishments range from execution to hard labor to prison time.
Coriell and Rafad go back to Harc and Keel to make one last attempt at diplomacy. Harc and Rafad are intent on killing Galen, so they walk into a tent in which the captain is held in a pillory. Harc draws a knife, at which point Coriell and Rafad enter combat.
After much grappling, Rafad attacks the tent with a mighty blow, bringing down the supporting pole. Tombor then arrived on the scene and proceeded to pimp slap the Haven-Faran punk-asses.
After the pimp slapping, Tombor gave a rousing speech that shamed the riled up Haven-Farans. At this point, Rafad, Coriell and Tombor round up Galen and the criminals and lead them to Johann Ironfounderson, where they were given into his custody.
Later on in the evening, two Sharn guards approach us. They inform us that the watch captain wants a word. We are led past the tent of healing to a new area. Inside the tent, we find Malacoda. He tells us that he has learned many things today. He seems pleased with our actions concerning Harc and Keel.
He waxes philosophical about our place in this strange, yet familiar, new world. Do we adhere to the laws of this new land, or do we rebel? We must take on new roles…and what roles shall we play?
He admits that he has called us to the tent under false pretenses. He speaks to us of Galen, and his possible fate. He leaves a pouch on the table, then leaves. He pokes his head back in and tells us that it’s very, very interesting that you can’t speak with a dead body if that body has been turned into an undead creature.
DM edit on what Malacoda said,
“I have been very busy today, and have learned a great deal. For example, there are some members of the Sharn watch who do not mind earning some extra coin in exchange for a small favor. I have called you here under false pretenses, because there may be a need to deny that we met tonight. Many people saw you being led to this tent by the Sharn watch, and the guards outside will declare that you were called here to answer questions about Galen and his men.
We find ourselves in a new world. Everything is familiar… but so different in many ways.
We need to consider our role in this new world. We, as the people of ASYLM, have a long tradition of working together to maintain a sense of justice and harmony. How do we continue to respect that? Do we just conform to the laws of the land? What if we find ourselves in the land of a tyrant? Do we rise up and fight openly? Sometimes the subtle knife cuts more deeply than the open sword. We may have to consider taking on new roles in this new world. What role will you play?
There is no question in my mind that Galen and his men deserve to die for their crimes. But if they are killed, they can still be made to speak against those who administered justice. Ah, the trouble with magic in this world. A quick call for a cleric, and speak with dead will have them making claims against the living from the plane of the dead.
I have faith in you to make the right decisions. I know you will find your role in this new world.
<With this, Malacoda produces a pouch from within his robes and sets it on the table. He looks at it meaningfully, then moves to leave. As he lifts the tent flap, he pokes his head back in the tent to say,>
Interesting arcane trivia, you cannot cast speak with dead on a body which has been converted into an undead creature.”
Inside the pouch, there are six onyx gems (worth 50 gp each) and a scroll of animate dead.
The group decides that it wants no part of Malacoda’s machinations, and they walk out of the tent, leaving the pouch on the table. Rafad, the last person in the tent, buries the pouch and walks out.
The night wears on, and the group gathers information…
Coriell learns that during the Last War, the people of the Eldeen Reaches have split from the nation of Aundair to form their own nation. This has caused a great deal of tension between the Eldeen Reaches and Aundair.
Rafad and Danerys play dice with the soldiers, and learn a good deal about Sharn, the Last War and current events.
Suddenly, at 5 in the morning, screams are heard from the direction of the tent where Galen and his men were held. Rene DeLair, Victor Saint-Demain and Captain Pardesh struck down six undead who had risen and attacked from within the tent.
Good times were had by all.
Minor Corrections and a little Religion
Tombor wrote, “Captain Galen was apparently using this to evade being punished for piracy.”
Captain Grist Haven was a notorious gnome pirate 300 years ago. He had used the Wake Portal to evade being punished for piracy, and eventually to retire by transporting his ship, The Good Fortune, to its final resting place in the town he settled called Haven-Fara. The Wake Portal had not been used for 300 years… until today!
Captain Arden “Cap” Galen was the villain you stopped from destroying Haven-Fara. He never used the Wake Portal. His thugs are Mik Godkin, Etan Flint, Fynn Blakcort, Drake and Tarn Machy (twin brothers).
After the trial, Westin, flanked by Harc and Keel, announced that the thugs will all get fifty lashes each. Arden Galen will hang by the neck until dead.
Tombor wrote, “Sam gives [Coriell] chain armor, which was blessed by the goddess Aroway.”
Chain Shirt of Arawai – Arawai is one of the “Sovereign Host”, a group of nine deities who are worshiped by many of the people of Eberron. Arawai is “a deity of fertility, plant life and abundance. She claims many druids and rangers among her followers, as well as farmers, sailors and any who are significantly concerned with weather and fertility.”
The Sovereign Host is opposed by The Dark Six, who are also worshiped by many (mainly evil) people of Eberron. Although many people do make offerings to the Dark Six to ward off their wrath, few worship them openly, except in evil kingdoms like the goblin nation of Darguun.
The Blood of Vol and Church of the Silver Flame are two other religious groups in Eberron. We will discuss the religions of Eberron in greater detail later.
